The Oglethorpe County softball team is off to a 5-0 start behind pitchers Deven Weaver and Haleigh Baker.
Weaver started and won the opener, a 16-1 victory over Baldwin on Aug. 1, striking out five and giving up only one hit in three innings. She then shut out Washington-Wilkes 4-0 on Aug. 6, striking out five and giving up only four hits.
Baker was the winning pitcher in a 10-6 win over Lake Oconee Academy (also on Aug. 1), and the two combined to hold off East Jackson in Oglethorpe County’s 14-10 victory on Aug. 4.
On Tuesday night, Baker led the Patriots to an 8-0 victory at Evans.
Here’s a breakdown:
OCHS 8, Evans 0 (Aug. 11): Alivia Anderson had two hits and two RBIs, and Georgia Turner had two hits. Lillie Anderson and Riley Jones each drove in two runs.
OCHS 4, Washington-Wilkes 0 (Aug. 6): Baker had three hits and three RBIs, and Khloe Eidson, Emily Wisham, Lillie Anderson and Maebrynn Reeves each had one hit.
OCHS 14, East Jackson 10 (Aug. 4): Weaver had three hits. Lillie Anderson and Eidson had two hits each. Turner, Jones and Reeves each had two RBIs.
OCHS 10, Lake Oconee Academy 6 (Aug. 1): Wisham and Reeves had two hits each.
OCHS 16, Baldwin 1 (Aug. 1): Lillie Anderson had three hits and four RBIs, Turner was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, Eidson had two hits and Jones had two RBIs.
The Patriots are scheduled to play at Washington-Wilkes at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Social Circle defeated the OCMS football team 31-0 on Aug. 6.
The OCMS volleyball A Team defeated West Jackson 25-23 and Westside 25-22, but lost to East Jackson 25-9. The B Team defeated Westside 25-18, but lost to West Jackson 24-7 and East Jackson 25-16.
