
Ke’Mauri Brown was second in the long jump and third in the 100 meters to lead the Oglethorpe County track and field team to a second-place finish at the 28th annual Loch Johnson Invitational at Cedar Shoals on Saturday.
O’Maury Huggs set a personal-best throw of 136 feet, 10 inches in the discus, John Adams won the 3,200 and Nicah Pass was third in the triple jump.
The 4x800 team (Adams, Cory Tillman, John Wanager and Luke Holbrooks) was third and the 4x100 team (Brown, Pass, John Garrett and Preston Davis) was third with a season-best time of 44.24.
Emily Wisham scored a team-high 24 points to lead the OCHS girls to a third-place finish at the Loch Johnson Invitational.
She was part of the winning 4x800 relay team and finished third in the 800 meters. Elin Turner was third in the 100-meter hurdles and was fourth in the 300 hurdles for 22 points.
Georgia Turner, Jaliyah Glenn and Nora Turner finished with 20 points each.
Track teams host meet on Friday
The OCHS track and field teams will host the Gary Mathews Invitational at 4:30 p.m. Friday, the only meet at the school this spring.
Participating teams include Athens Christian, Elbert County, Habersham Central, Hart County and Tallulah Falls, an increase from the three teams that competed last year.
Admission is $7 at the gate. All events will be held except the pole vault.
