Carlie Gabriel scored 18 points to lead the Oglethorpe County girls basketball team to a 53-39 victory over Social Circle on Friday night.
Gabriel added seven assists and five rebounds in the victory.
Elin Turner had 16 points, five rebounds and four assists. Jaliyah Turner had nine points and eight rebounds, and Georgia Turner scored seven points and had five rebounds.
The Patriots played Monday and Tuesday in games that were played after The Oglethorpe Echo’s Thanksgiving deadline. The Echo will publish those results next week.
Crowder leads OCHS wrestlers
Paris Crowder was third, and Kendon Brown and Christian Harris each finished fourth in their weight classes at the Ringgold Invitational last weekend.
The Patriots had eight wrestlers in the 14 weight classes of the invitational, which included seven teams that have won state titles in the past five years.
“We are getting kids down to weight and trying to spread out in weight classes,” coach Steve Mason said. “We have a lot of kids who weigh the same thing, a lot of our more experienced wrestlers.”
Freshman Walker Compton competed at a national tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
OCHS will compete at Archer on Wednesday and at Jeff Davis on Friday and Saturday.
OCMS results
The Oglethorpe County Middle School boys basketball team defeated George Walton 32-30 and the OCMS girls lost 20-7.
The teams will host Bethlehem Christian at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4.
The OCMS wrestling team will compete at the East Jackson Duals on Saturday, Dec. 6.
