Lexington property owner granted extension

Rick Hawkins was granted a 45-day extension to show compliance with ordinance violations for his five properties on Main Street in downtown Lexington.   He has until March 1 or a new date will be set for him to appear in municipal court. The original court date was set for Jan.

Restaurant might replace antique mall

The Lexington Antique Mall will shut its doors after a quarter-century in business.    “After 25 years, the antique business has changed quite a bit,” owner Ronnie Boggs said. “The younger generation … doesn't have the appreciation for the older antiques.

Crawl introduces county to artists

Painter Mary Ann Cox moved to Lexington in 2019, right before the pandemic, so she wasn’t able to meet as many people as she would have liked. So last week’s Art Crawl was an opportunity to make acquaintances and new art patrons.

Lexington dog, breeder receive national recognition

Many dog owners believe their furry companion is the best dog in town. But Cory Crayton of Lexington has the awards to prove it.    Crayton’s Great Gatsby, which is an American Akita, received an award of merit at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show last month in Tarrytown, New York.

It’s easy to come and go as you please from the Historic Oglethorpe County Jail these days, which is in stark contrast to when the imposing brick and granite structure housed prisoners for nearly 130 years.

200-year-old Titus Parish House is a work in progress

Residents recently celebrated a unique birthday in Lexington: the 200th birthday of the Titus Parish House.    Linda Parish, the current owner, hosted the party on April 16 to show off the home’s antiques and celebrate the work her family has done on the historic residence.
