Deputies rescue man from Lexington house fire

A man and his dog were rescued from a burning home by Oglethorpe County deputies and transported for medical treatment on Dec. 5.
About 2:37 p.m., Sgt. Andrew Brooks arrived at 115 Upson Court in Lexington. He learned Jeffrey Shellnut, who uses a wheelchair, was in the burning home.

Berry's life leaves large, lasting legacy

From cultivating a widespread love of horticulture to providing flowers for events both large and small, Rick Berry made an impact far beyond Oglethorpe County while also serving as a community leader.
The beloved Lexington business owner and former mayor died Friday of pancreatic cancer.

City Council discusses funds for highway, public transportation

In Memory: Loss of Rick Berry profound for county
Oglethorpe County and the horticulture world suffered a great loss with the passing of Richard Lewis Berry on Nov. 12. Rick and his partner, Marc Richardson, founded Goodness Grows, a small landscape business in Crawford in 1977.
