OCHS wrestling travels to Florida

The Oglethorpe County wrestling team will compete in the Knockout Christmas Classic in Kissimmee, Florida, next week.    The 64-team competition is hosted by Osceola High School at the Silver Spurs Arena on Dec. 27-28.

Finding 'a way to piece it together'

When Oglethorpe County began the search for a new head boys basketball coach, they looked for someone who could bring change to the unsuccessful program. They needed someone with knowledge and patience to work with a young team and turn their potential into prosperity.    They found Larry Brown.

Patriots defeat Putnam, Winder in first home matches

Oglethorpe County opened its home schedule with two victories on Tuesday. The Patriots defeated Putnam County 72-18 and Winder-Barrow 72-9.   “All in all, it was a solid night,” coach Tim Stoudenmire said in an email.

Oglethorpe County grad helps win Spartan Ranger Challenge

Oglethorpe County High School grad Austin Gabriel helped the University of North Georgia’s Ranger Challenge team win its fourth consecutive Spartan Ranger Challenge at Fort Knox, Kentucky, last month.

Patriot 5K raises more than $2,500 for cross country equipment

The annual Patriot 5K raised more than $2,500 this year, surpassing the goal set by Oglethorpe County cross country coach Melissa McGarity.   The funds will be used to buy uniforms, healthy snacks, water, tents, chairs, coolers, and other items for the Oglethorpe County’s cross country teams.
