Familiar teams on football team’s schedule this fall

Home games against Washington-Wilkes, Putnam County, Providence Christian, Rabun County and Prince Avenue Christian highlight the Oglethorpe County football schedule next fall. The schedule, which is still being finalized, will also feature Region 8-AA games at Commerce and Athens Academy.

Oglethorpe County stuns No. 5 Rabun County

Oglethorpe County shattered a 30-year drought Friday night, toppling a top-10 powerhouse and rewriting the school’s football history. The Patriots knocked off previously undefeated and fifth-ranked Rabun County 28-19 to move to 3-4 and 1-2 in Region 8-A Division I play.

Huge win for the Patriots aganist Rabun County

Oglethorpe County posted one of the biggest wins in program history with a 28-19 upset of Rabun County on Friday night.Caden Hartrum threw two touchdown passes and ran for another as the Patriots handed the Wildcats their first loss of the season.

The Patriots competed against Athens Academy last Friday. OCHS lost 43-21, leaving them with a 2-4 record this season. They are set to play Rabun County next Friday.

The Patriots competed against Elbert County's Blue Devils in the Granite Bowl in Elberton last Friday. OCHS lost 0-27, leaving them with a 2-3 record this season. They are set to play Athens Academy this Friday.

That’s two in a row for the Patriots. Caden Hartrum and Jackson Tatum each scored two touchdowns to lead OCHS to a 42-12 win over Washington-Wilkes on Friday night. Paris Crowder and O’Maury Huggs also scored.

Patriots look to ‘band together’ this season

Despite a 37-6 loss to Social Circle in last week’s opener, Oglethorpe County football coach Michael Holland said he believes the Patriots have come a long way since last season. “Nobody likes losing a game, but they’re ready to work,” he said. “We’ll just keep chopping wood.

Patriots look to senior class for leadership

The Oglethorpe County football team will try to regroup after going 0-10 last season. The Patriots will rely heavily on senior leaders to push them toward success this fall.
