Seemingly, there’s no end to hitting deer

Nikki Hughes started caring for and rehabilitating deer fawn in 2020. During that first year, she released three fawns into the wild.  In 2021, Hughes became licensed as a wildlife rehabilitator and opened Camp Critter Wildlife Rescue in Crawford.

Reaching new heights

Looming 125 feet above the Oglethorpe Feed and Hardware Supply, an unfamiliar metal tower nestled between the grain storage bins has caused some confusion for the store’s customers.  “They think it’s a sign, they think it’s like a grain mixer,” said Stewart Sanders, an operator at the store.

Officials warn of positive rabies case in Crawford

The Georgia Department of Public Health confirmed a positive case of rabies in Oglethorpe County, according to a June 3 release.The fox spotted and killed on South Woodlawn Drive in Crawford on May 23 was sent to the State Public Health Laboratory on May 27.Read the full press release below.

Hensley plans to keep ‘vibes’ going at library

Nicole Hensley hoped her name would be called as the replacement when former library branch manager Katherine Ratcliffe announced she was leaving the Crawford location for the Bogart branch.  “I had my fingers and my toes crossed,” Hensley said. Her method must have worked.
