Marigold Collective hosts spring markets

  Local coffee roasters, artists, basketmakers, artisan bakers, ceramicists, soapmakers and hot food vendors fill the Marigold Markets for the spring season at Pittard Park.

Data shows school zone cameras work

 The speed cameras on the roads leading to Oglethorpe County schools are effective at reducing speeding and work as intended, according to six months of data from Blue Line Solutions.

Candidates discuss hot topics at forum

Questions about the jail, school zone cameras, taxes and dog ordinances were plentiful during a candidate forum at the Historic Crawford Depot on April 18.   Eleven candidates across several races answered questions from the public, which were submitted ahead of time and screened.

Spring is abuzz: Inspection time for beekeepers

The Oglethorpe County School System has received two of the three new buses with air conditioning that were ordered as a part of the system’s yearly bus replacement rotation.

Library system to review book in question

Controversy has surrounded the book “All Boys Aren’t Blue” since the Oglethorpe County Board of Commissioners’ meeting on April 2. Valerie Bell, director of the Athens Regional Library System, said the library is taking the concerns seriously.
