Recruiting process heats up for Bonds, Richardson

While the Oglethorpe County High School football team didn’t end the season how it wanted, seniors KB Bonds and Jayland Richardson have received multiple offers to play at the collegiate level.

Prep roundup: Pittard helps Pats open with victory

Javaun Pittard scored 16 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the Oglethorpe County boys to a 65-62 season-opening victory over Upson-Lee in the Billy Wade Classic on Monday at Clarke Central.   Pittard also had seven steals, four assists and three blocks for the Patriots.

Ross, Pittard voice high expectations for upcoming season

As basketball begins, Oglethorpe County High School senior Kirkland Ross and junior Javaun Pittard look to pave the way for a winning culture through consistency.

Masons have strong bond, on and off wrestling mat

Last season’s roster for the Oglethorpe County High School wrestling team was impressive. It featured returning state champions, area winners and seniors with years of experience.    But one wrestler stood out from the rest: Miles Mason.

Patriots optimistic heading into playoffs

The Oglethorpe County football team heads into the playoffs on a four-game losing streak, but coach Mike Holland is confident of the Patriots’ chances. “It's unfortunate we have lost steam as the regular season came to an end,” he said. “Great thing about it is that we are in the playoffs.

Patriots celebrate success at state

Melissa McGarity is building a brand in cross country. Oglethorpe County’s success at the Class A Division I state championship meet only added to that name recognition.

Veterans, freshmen form core of girls basketball team

  A core group of four juniors will lead the Oglethorpe County girls basketball team through its third season under head coach Brianna Dickens. The juniors on this year’s team played under Dickens during her first year as coach two seasons ago.

Irwin gets early start on career in medicine

The Oglethorpe County football team has practice until 6:30 p.m. most nights. However, senior wide receiver Nate Irwin leaves at 6 p.m. every Tuesday.    For Irwin, football is simply one piece of his schedule.

OCHS wrestling is seeking redemption with young roster

The Oglethorpe County wrestling team was full of confidence when it traveled to Bremen for the dual championships last January. The then-reigning state champions had dominated the prelims — winning 71-6 and 80-0 — and had a slew of experienced seniors.
