Steve Mason’s Oglethorpe County legacy won’t be sitting in a trophy case. It was at his final wrestling banquet as the OCHS wrestling coach.   “Twenty-six of our 28 men showed up. Two had to work,” he said. “They were all dressed nice. They were all respectful.

Girls soccer sets sights on growth, connection

The Oglethorpe County girls soccer team is navigating a coaching change, but the transition is led by a familiar face. Madison Nimmons graduated in 2020 and was a standout striker for the Patriots.

Prep Sports: Boys track starts strong behind Brown

The 4x200 relay team of Ke’Mauri Brown, Nicah Pass, Preston Davis and CJ Sheppard finished first and Brown won the long jump at the Stephens County Invitational on Saturday. Overall, the Oglethorpe County boys track and field team was third. Davis was second in the long jump.

The Oglethorpe County boys track and field team won its fourth regional title in the past five seasons in 2025, sending 11 athletes to state.  None of them won a state title. The Patriots will aim higher in their fourth season under coach Maurice Freeman, an Oglethorpe County native.

Staff Report Keyvon Gresham finished fourth and Walker Compton was sixth at the Class A state wrestling tournament last week at the Clayton County Convocation Center in Morrow. Tanner Mckie was 2-2 and one match away from placing, and Andrew Goller and Kendon Brown were both 1-2.
