Hawkins approved as county administrator

After months of discussion and deliberation, the Oglethorpe County Board of Commissioners approved the motion to appoint a county administrator and administrator ordinance.   Josh Hawkins, who was the county’s director of finance, will hold the title of county administrator.

Elections supervisor Marilyn Huff-Waller is the first person to greet you when you walk into the Oglethorpe County Board of Elections. Surrounded by stacks of paperwork, stamps and envelopes, Huff-Waller is preparing for the Georgia primary on May 24.

The Georgia primary is coming up on May 24. Republican Board of Commission candidates Darius Tompkins and Howard Sanders (District 1) and Debbie Furbish (District 3) are challenging incumbents Phil Sanders (District 1) and David Clark (District 3).

BOC to reassess administrator position

The Oglethorpe County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to move the discussion over the county administrator appointment to next March after a lengthy executive session.   Josh Hawkins, the current director of compliance and finance, is a candidate for the position.
