Wrestlers ready for yet another winning season

With several returning athletes and talented incoming freshmen, coach Tim Stoudenmire says this year’s Oglethorpe County’s wrestling team could be the school’s best group yet. That’s an impressive claim, considering the Patriots won the Class AA team dual championship last season.

COVID-19 continues The pandemic continued in 2021. Early in the year, the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) set up a website displaying data regarding the COVID-19 vaccine, sortable by county.

Wrestling team sees Sunshine State success

The Oglethorpe County wrestling team had a road trip to remember.   The Patriots won 22 individual matches and lost 22 matches at the Knockout Christmas Classic in Kissimmee, Florida, on Monday and Tuesday.

Hart County takes two from OCHS

Kenzie Henderson and McKenzie Freeman each had double-doubles, but it wasn’t enough to keep Hart County from a 67-60 overtime victory over Oglethorpe County in the Madison County Christmas Tournament on Tuesday night.

OCHS wrestling travels to Florida

The Oglethorpe County wrestling team will compete in the Knockout Christmas Classic in Kissimmee, Florida, next week.    The 64-team competition is hosted by Osceola High School at the Silver Spurs Arena on Dec. 27-28.

Henderson double-double sparks Lady Pats' victory

Kenzie Henderson scored 18 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Oglethorpe County girls team to a 61-9 victory over Washington-Wilkes on Tuesday night.   Denim Goddard added 12 points, McKenzie Freeman had 10 points and Sofia Horsley scored nine as the Lady Patriots improved to 4-1.

Trailblazer Hilley determined to win state title

When sophomore Kayleigh Hilley first asked her parents if she could start wrestling in the seventh grade, they didn’t exactly jump on board. After being encouraged to join by other female wrestlers on the team, she begged her parents for weeks before they let her try it out.
