The Rev. Jimmy Crumbley, 83, of Comer, died July 15. The funeral service was Saturday, July 22, at 2 p.m. at Holly Creek Baptist Church, with Pastor David Bell, eulogist. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Charles “Buddy” Richmond Crawford Jr., 94, husband of the late Mary Ann Bost Crawford, died on July 16. Born in Lexington on March 22, 1929, he was the son of the late Charles Richmond Crawford Sr. and Kathleen Margaret Bailey Crawford.

Fun-filled summer for 4-H students

Oglethorpe County 4-Hers have traveled to the North Georgia Wildlife Park and Safari, kayaked down the Broad River, cooked horse treats to feed horses at Echo Hills and toured the University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forestry.    But the fun’s not done.

OCHS baseball infield leveled, mound raised

The Oglethorpe County High School baseball field just received a makeover.    The field was leveled to raise the pitching mound to its proper height and new sod was placed on July 12.

Crawford Village stays on five-year time frame

Crawford Village, the mixed-use development at the intersection of Bunker Hill Road and Highway 78 expected to house hundreds, is on track with the loose timeline Patriot Construction set in place last year.    “We’re just working on it as we have time.
