The Oglethorpe County High School football team defeated Lake Oconee Academy 42-0 last Friday night. The Patriots improved to 2-1 on the season for the first time since 2012. The team will travel to Greene County for their next game next Friday, September 16.

VIDEO: King overcomes health issues to win crown

In December 2021, Kamryn King, a senior at Oglethorpe County High School, faced a sudden onset of impairments which she ultimately used to share a powerful message with her community. Mysathenia gravis, a neuromuscular disorder which causes weakness in skeletal muscles, caused her to struggle with swallowing and speech, among other things. King went on to compete and win the 2022 Miss Oglethorpe Pageant, making a public declaration on stage that she is an overcomer. This story was produced by Sydney Fordice as part of the annual Woodall Weekend Workshop, put on by the University of Georgia's visual journalism program.
