Advance voting continues; primary is next Tuesday

Advance voting for the general primary continues from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, May 17, leading up to the general primary on Tuesday, May 21   Advance voting is being held at the Board of Elections Office.    On election day, three precincts will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

USPS finds missing 200 mailed ballots

Absentee ballots sent to Oglethorpe County voters on April 22 that were lost in the mail have been found, according to election officials and the U.S. Postal Service.   “As of (Sunday) they were located,” Oglethorpe County Election Supervisor Marilyn Huff-Waller said on Monday.

Q&A: Broadband access important for Brown

William Brown, who is in his first term, is running unopposed for reelection to the District 4 Commissioner seat. The Oglethorpe Echo spoke with Brown to learn more about his plans for his next term.    Comments have been edited for length and clarity.

Q: What do you think are the top three priorities of the office and how the deputies' time is being allocated?    Jackson: I’d say, the top priority for me is to protect and serve the citizens and maintain the jail.
