Incumbents successful in county primary election

Representation for Districts 3 and 5 in Oglethorpe County will not see changes — both for the Board of Commissioners and Board of Education. However, there will be a runoff between incumbent Lewis “Phil” Sanders and Howard Sanders to decide the District 1 Commissioner race.

Library manager serves up 'possibilities' throughout summer

For Austin Jenkins, managing the Oglethorpe County Library means implementing programs to benefit the whole community, but he has been especially focused on outreach to students and others disconnected by the pandemic.

Early voting slow for general primary

Early voting turnout in Oglethorpe County has been slow compared to previous years.   There had been 833 in-person votes submitted and 144 absentee ballots returned and accepted through May 16, which is a turnout of around 8%.

Palmer selected OCHS valedictorian on Honors Night

Elizabeth Palmer was named valedictorian of Oglethorpe County High School’s graduating class at 2022 Senior Honors Night on Tuesday in the school auditorium.   “It’s been four years of good times,” Palmer said. Her cumulative GPA is 100.3.

CNA class prepares students for entry-level nursing positions
