Goller, Crowder, Mckie spark OCHS wrestling

Andrew Goller, Paris Crowder and Tanner Mckie each went 8-1 in their matches to lead the Oglethorpe County boys wrestling team to a sixth-place finish at the Jeff Davis Yellow Jacket Duals in Hazlehurst last weekend.

Prep roundup: Adams, Tillman lead cross country team to state meet

The Oglethorpe County cross country team advanced to the Class A Division I state meet after finishing sixth out of 21 teams at the Class A sectionals at Jeff Davis High School on Saturday.  John Adams was sixth in 17:23.30, followed by Cory Tillman in 19th at 19:09.80. Josiah Young was 46th (19:26.

OCHS softball nears playoffs The regular season is winding down for the Oglethorpe County softball team. The Patriots dropped a 13-3 decision to Elbert County on Tuesday to fall to 12-7 and 8-2 in Region 8-A Division I.

Adams takes over as coach of OCHS cross country teams

The Oglethorpe County cross country teams are heading into the season with new head coach Brandon Adams.  Adams, a sixth grade social studies teacher at Oglethorpe County Middle School, has coached soccer but never cross country.

Forschler’s departure one of many for coaching staff

Oglethorpe County High School’s athletic staff will experience changes next year, including a new girls soccer coach.Erich Forschler is stepping away from his position following the graduation of twins Emily and Madeleine Forschler, who have signed to play at South Georgia State in Douglas.

Staff ReportThe Oglethorpe County football team looks for its first victory of the season when it hosts Washington-Wilkes at 7:30 p.m. Friday.The Patriots are 0-2 after a 40-7 loss at East Hall on Aug. 23. Washington-Wilkes is also 0-2, with losses to Harlem and Hephzibah.

Cross country teams seek more success

Oglethorpe County cross country teams have their sights set on repeats and beyond.    The boys team, which has won back-to-back region titles, and the three-time defending region champion girls team open their seasons at the North Georgia Championships in Jefferson on Aug. 27.
