Obituary: Mary Teresa McCannon McElhannon

Mary Teresa McCannon McElhannon, age 66, of Clarkesville, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023.   Born on Dec. 15, 1956, in Elberton, she was a daughter of the late Lamar Norman McCannon and Freddie Sybil Sisk McCannon. McElhannon worked in numerous occupations over the years.

Bernice "Bunches" Jackson, 84, of Carlton, died Sept. 8, 2023. The funeral service was at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023 at New Bethlehem Baptist Church, with Dr. Anthony Daniel, eulogist. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Obituary: J. Randy Gabriel

J. Randy Gabriel, 68, of Colbert passed away on Sept. 16, 2023.   A native and lifelong resident of Oglethorpe County, he was the son of the late Robert William Gabriel Sr. and Sybil Irene Gabriel. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three nephews and one niece.

Melvin David Hardman, cherished husband, brother and friend, died on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023 at the age of 79. Born in Carlton, he was the only son of David Ferron Hardman and Arlene Moore Hardman. David was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Sara Frances Fleeman, 89, died Sept. 8, 2023. A native of Oglethorpe County, she was a daughter of the late Grady and Evie Carter Smith, and the widow of J.W. Fleeman. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Jacks and Gladys Bramlett, and a brother, Jimmy Smith.
