Julia Hardman Colquitt, a beloved member of the community, died July 2, 2024, at the age of 95.  She was born on June 22, 1929, in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, to her late parents Julius Albert and Agnes Mae Harris Hardman.

Obituary: Frederick Jerome Bolton

Frederick Jerome Bolton, 61, of Athens, died June 14, 2024. A graveside funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 4 at Jennings Cemetery, with Pastor Margaret Arnold, eulogist. Interment was following the service.

Obituary: Louise Moon Looper

Louise Moon Looper, 86, of Atlanta, died June 18, 2024. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2024 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Carlton, with Pastor Wyman McElroy Jr., eulogist. Internment was in the church cemetery.

Obituary: Kathleen M. “Kathy” Edwards

Kathleen M. “Kathy” Edwards, 84, of Crawford, died on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Born in Washington, D.C., on July 3, 1939, Kathy was the daughter of Harry Frederick Magruder and Elizabeth Jane O’Roark Magruder. Kathy loved butterflies. She thought of them as symbols of Christ’s life.

Obituary: Marvin Lee Palmer

Marvin Lee Palmer, 82, of Lexington, was born on Sept. 22, 1941, and peacefully passed away on June 12, 2024, at Quiet Oaks Health Care in Crawford, Georgia. Marvin was born and raised in Oglethorpe County and graduated from Oglethorpe County High School.

Obituary: Roger Dale McCannon

Roger Dale McCannon, 76, of Elberton, died Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at The Oaks in Athens after a long battle with dementia. The fifth of six children, Roger was born in Athens on June 1, 1948, to Robert and Edith Irene Patten McCannon.

Obituary: David Mark Williams

David Mark Williams, 60, husband of Susan Williams, died on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Born in Griffin, Georgia, he was the son of the late Buford Franklin Williams and Edith Jeannette Davis Williams, and brother to the late Tommy Williams.

Obituary: Samuel “Sammy” Mitchell

Samuel Mitchell, 59, of Lexington, died May 23, 2024. The funeral service was at noon, Thursday, May 30 at New Springhill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Reginald Hunter, eulogist. Interment was in the church cemetery. Survivors include his parents, K.C.
